  Fire Planner

The Fire Planner prepares Site Fire Management Plans, Prescribed Burn Unit Plans, or components of these plans. The Planner works under the supervision of a Burn Boss or Fire Manager. The Fire Planner does not have approval authority over a burn plan. That responsibility is held by the Fire Manager.

Qualification, Training and Experience Requirements

There are no specific training or experience requirements for Fire Planner, however, the Planner is usually a person who is moving through the training sequence toward Burn Boss. A qualified Planner has locally relevant familiarity with wildland fire behavior, ecological fire effects, prescribed fire operations, and safety and risk management. Planning may also be contracted out to a qualified individual. See the Fire Contracting Template on the Conservancy's fire and legal intranet pages for assistance in contracting for a fire plan.
